How to Survive Entities

Survive Darkest Hours entities: threat types, detection rules, stun immunity, group entities, and counters for 51 Roblox killers.

Entity Fundamentals

Entities are the primary threat in Darkest Hours. At least one spawns each trial, selected from a roster of 51 active killers with unique mechanics. Every entity pathfinds toward players using sound, sight, clicks, or omniscient tracking depending on its threat type. If an entity loses you during a chase, it enters a brief deaf window where loud actions are safe—use that beat to sprint behind cover.

All entities eventually teleport if they fail to spot anyone for an extended period, usually near player clusters. Assume "lost" does not mean "gone." Consult the full entity list and tier list to prioritize learning S-tier threats like Defect, The Founder, and RED44 before obscure C-tier roamers.

Threat Types That Decide Runs

Chase entities (Sprintbear, Coalcart, Spawn) accelerate over time—break line of sight early. Sound detection (Eyeless, Trollge, Fiesty Foxy) punishes sprinting and loud items; crouch-walk near them. Sight detection (RED44, Angry Munci, Renderman) triggers when you look at them or they spot you—manage camera angles.

Click detection (Alex, Baldi, Siren) listens for mouse clicks—avoid UI spam during chases. Provokable threats (RED44, Lockdown, TheEntity) become far deadlier after triggering. Group entities (Freddybear Band, GHOSTS, The Mafia, DOOM.EXE) require learning each member's rules separately.

Category pages dive deeper: chase entities, sound detection, sight detection, group entities, ranged entities, and provokable entities.

Stuns, Immunity, and Items

Metal Bat and Revolver can stun entities briefly, creating escape windows. After a stun, entities display stun immunity (white shield visual)—do not waste consecutive hits. Coordinate stuns with revives or Capture point rotations.

Radar reveals distance via color-coded studs but beeps loudly—entities hear it when nearby. Camera Monitor grants safe vision for callouts without exposing your body. Defensive items are covered in defensive items; pair them with stamina discipline from stamina & sound.

Squad Communication

Call entity names, not colors—"Eyemaster ranged" beats "thing in the hall." Announce when you trigger provokable states so teammates stop staring. During group entities, identify which band member is active (Freddybear Band rotates two animatronics at a time).

When unsure how to counter a specific killer, use the Entity Lookup tool mid-session between trials. Continue learning map-specific choke points on map hazards to combine environmental cover with entity rules.
