Darkest Hours Updates & Events
Darkest Hours patch history from v0.1 to v0.2: crossover maps, entity audio fixes, trial balance, and pre-alpha roadmap notes for July 2026.
Update Overview
Darkest Hours remains in active pre-alpha development as of July 2026. The jump from v0.1 to v0.2 was the largest content drop so far, expanding the map pool, refining entity behavior, and introducing crossover-inspired environments that changed squad routing and trial strategies. This page documents verified changelog highlights and points to deeper guides for mechanics touched by each patch.
Watch the featured video above for visual coverage of v0.2 map additions and gameplay flow. Below you will find section-by-section notes you can cross-reference with entity pages, map difficulty lists, and item tier rankings on this wiki.
v0.2 Changelog Highlights
New and revamped maps. v0.2 added crossover and refreshed layouts including Even Care, Deserted Stable, and a revamped 3008 retail space. These maps shift pacing—wider rooms favor Radar and Camera Monitor utility, while tighter mazes reward crouch discipline against sound entities.
Entity polish. Kolossos received a clearer charge audio cue, helping players dodge one of the harder A-tier threats. Group entities like DOOM.EXE and GHOSTS saw stability fixes during multi-entity spawn windows. Tier lists on our Entity Tier List page reflect post-v0.2 threat assessments.
Trial and hazard tuning. Special trials—including Fog, Blackout, and Last Prisoner Standing variants—received balance passes. Map hazard documentation on Map Hazards covers fall damage on tower maps and visibility modifiers introduced or adjusted in v0.2.
Quality-of-life. Lobby flow, matchmaking stability, and objective UI clarity improved across the patch. Revive interactions and item hotkey responsiveness feel snappier, which matters during Round 4 extractions documented in How to Escape.
v0.1 Baseline (Pre-Alpha Launch)
v0.1 established the core four-round trial loop: objective rounds leading into a final Escape Trial with escalating entity pressure. Foundational maps such as Ashtray Maze, Generator Facility, Corridor, and Grocery Store shipped with the first public playtests. The original entity roster—including S-tier threats Defect and The Founder—defined meta strategies still relevant after v0.2.
v0.1 also introduced the item ecosystem documented on our Items hub: Radar as the premier utility pick, Metal Bat and Revolver for defensive stuns, and healing consumables for sustain between objectives. Many v0.1 tactics transfer directly; the primary difference in v0.2 is map diversity and audio telegraph improvements.
What to Expect Next
The developers have not published a fixed public roadmap, but community tracking on the Community hub suggests upcoming priorities: additional entities, ranked matchmaking experiments, controller support, and potential code redemption for events. No dates are guaranteed in pre-alpha.
We update this page after each verified patch. For mechanical deep dives affected by updates, read Special Trials, Survive Entities, and our pre-alpha review for honest pros and cons of the current build. If promotional codes launch, they will be announced here and on the Codes page simultaneously.
