Map Voting Tips

Map voting strategy for Darkest Hours: match layouts to objectives, squad skill, and special trial modifiers.

Vote With Objectives in Mind

Collect trials favor sprawling maps with many scrap spawn corners—3D Maze and Neighborhood spread pickups but increase separation risk. Capture trials favor compact maps with defensible rooms like Apartments and Facility where one player can stand on point while others watch single chokepoints.

Escape Trial inherits the chosen map's geometry—avoid 3-star vertical maps if your squad lacks coil mobility and rolling practice.

Match Squad Skill

Casual lobbies should vote easy maps while learning. Experienced groups can push hard maps for challenge once entity tier knowledge is solid. If your lobby runs Fog or Blackout specials frequently, prefer maps with inherent lighting (Neon Arcade) over already-dark layouts.

Communication

Call votes in chat before clicking—split votes waste picks. Designate a shot-caller or use simple majority. Link teammates to full map list and hazards during loading screens.

After voting, adjust loadouts via items guide—Radar on dark maps, Revolver on open ones.
